Pooch-Friendly Beaches
Lakes Entrance offers a variety of dog-friendly beaches where doggos can enjoy the sun, sand, and surf, just like their human mates. Whether you're after a leisurely stroll or energetic playtime, these spots welcome well-behaved dogs on lead, making Lakes Entrance the perfect coastal getaway for you and your pup. Dogs are permitted on-lead at all times at most beaches except for:
On the beach along the southern side of Cunninghame Arm, within 200 metres of the footbridge. Dogs are prohibited from remaining in that area (but they can pass through briefly while on a lead to elsewhere) from 1st November to 30th April; however, they are permitted to remain there on-lead at all other times.
On the Ninety Mile Beach, within 200 metres of the beach access track opposite the footbridge. Dogs are prohibited from remaining in that area (but they can pass through briefly while on a lead to elsewhere) from 1st November to 30th April; however, they are permitted to remain there on-lead at all other times.
Eastern Beach is between the car park at the western end and 200 metres east of the car park at the eastern end. Dogs are prohibited from remaining in that area (but they can pass through briefly while on a lead to elsewhere) from 1st November to 30th April; however, they are permitted to remain there on-lead at all other times.
Pooch-Friendly Activities
Luckily, the beaches aren't the only attraction here. There are heaps of other dog-friendly things to do in Lakes Entrance you should definitely check out.
Stroll along the foreshore: There's plenty of shared-use pathways around Lakes Entrance, with the path along the foreshore, parallel to the Esplanade, one of the most popular spots for taking a walk with your pup at any time of day.
Walk along the Entrance Walk: This is another popular walk in Lakes Entrance. Cross over the Cunninghame Arm Footbridge and then turn to the right before the surf club. (Dogs need to remain on leash on this walk. Dogs are not allowed to stay on the surf club beach 200m on either side of the main access track between November and April, although they can pass through on leash).
Go for a run at Brackenbush Unleashed: This fenced dog park on private property is a funded community facility. There are three big off-leash areas, with an area for quieter dogs as well as one for nature walks. It's also next to a state forest, where you can exercise your dog on a leash.
Look up for koalas at Raymond Island: One of the best dog-friendly attractions around the area is the Koala Trail on Raymond Island. The ferry leaves every 20 minutes, and it's free for people and leashed pooches.
Grab a bite to eat: Funkey Monkey Cafe, The Servo Bar & Eatery, Lakes Sports & Community Club, or the Boasted Food & Wine are all pet-friendly. The latter has an outdoor eating area at the front where dogs are welcome. There's even dog beer available so your pup can join in!
