Pet-Friendly Caravan Parks in Lakes Entrance | Top Spots for Furry Friends

If you're heading to Lakes Entrance from Melbourne (or anywhere!) with your pooch pal, you're in for a treat. There are plenty of dog-friendly caravan parks, beaches, and activities that are perfect for a chilled-out getaway. Hit the beach, explore the local parks, grab a bite to eat at a local cafe (and a doggo snack), and prepare to meet some like-minded bark buddies. Here's a handy guide to some of the most popular pet-friendly caravan parks in Lake Entrance Victoria, for your next fur-filled adventure.

Adult Only & Pet Friendly Prime Tourist Park

In terms of dog-friendly Lakes Entrance caravan parks, this one is quite unique! Situated 350 metres from the centre of town, back from the highway and in a sheltered location, the Adult Only & Pet Friendly Prime Tourist Park has a clear focus on pets and their owners (the name says it all!) It's a small, quiet and friendly park that offers good old-fashioned service, and is within walking distance from open parklands, 90 Mile Beach, and all of the top attractions Lakes Entrance has to offer. For RV owners, there's a range of sites from powered ensuites to grass, slab and gravel sites. The park owners live on-site and encourage social catch-ups like fire pit happy hours, live music, and karaoke evenings.

  • Park facilities: Pool, sun decks, camp kitchen, free gas BBQs, communal fire pit, picnic tables, guest laundry, Wi-Fi

  • Pooch perks: Fenced off-leash dog run with play equipment, coin-operated dog hydrobath, doggie daycare kennels

  • Location: 60 Myer Street, Lakes Entrance, VIC 3909

NRMA Eastern Beach Holiday Park

After a relaxed family-friendly holiday with your additional (fur) child in tow? Then, NRMA Eastern Beach Holiday Park will be ideal. Situated a few minutes walk from the beach, the centre of Lakes Entrance is also only a short drive away. Wake up to the sound of waves crashing on the shore, then explore the nearby dog-friendly beaches, parks and cafes. For RV owners, there are ensuite sites, plus plenty of shady powered, unpowered and drive-through sites.

  • Park facilities: Resort-style pool, playground, jumping pillow, pedal go-kart hire, e-bikes, games room, BBQ facilities, camp kitchen, laundry facilities, and a pizza oven. On-site activities are scheduled during holiday periods.

  • Pooch perks: Welcome on all sites and in one villa during low and mid-seasons.

  • Location: 42 Eastern Beach Road, Lakes Entrance, VIC 3909

Koonwarra Family Holiday Park

If you're after Lakes Entrance caravan parks that are dog-friendly, check out Koonwarra Family Holiday Park. Across the road from the foreshore of Cunninghame Arm, you can take a quick stroll into the town centre for a coffee or a meal at a pet-friendly cafe. Or you can explore one of the many beaches that will totally fulfil their doggie daydreams. For RV owners, there are powered sites, shady and grassy ensuite sites, and sites with plenty of room for big rigs. And of course, kids are as welcome as your fur kid!

  • Park facilities: Laundry facilities, large swimming pool, children's playground, two camp kitchens, BBQs, kiosk, fish cleaning area, Wi-Fi, and a games room with a TV, arcade games, and table tennis tables.

  • Pooch perks: Furry friends stay for free!

  • Location: 683-687 Esplanade, Lakes Entrance, VIC 3909

G'Day Parks Woodbine Tourist Park

With the Gippsland Lakes on your doorstep, G'Day Parks Woodbine Tourist Park is known as the 'Quiet One' in the area. Offering a relaxing getaway in the centre of town, it’s just 150m to the beaches, cafes, restaurants and the main shopping area in Lakes Entrance. For RV owners, grassy, powered and concrete-powered sites are on offer.

  • Park facilities: TV room, free electric BBQs

  • Pooch perks: Tasty cafe treats are a short stroll away!

  • Location: 30 Bulmer Street, Lakes Entrance, VIC 3909

Pooch-Friendly Beaches

Lakes Entrance offers a variety of dog-friendly beaches where doggos can enjoy the sun, sand, and surf, just like their human mates. Whether you're after a leisurely stroll or energetic playtime, these spots welcome well-behaved dogs on lead, making Lakes Entrance the perfect coastal getaway for you and your pup. Dogs are permitted on-lead at all times at most beaches except for:

  • On the beach along the southern side of Cunninghame Arm, within 200 metres of the footbridge. Dogs are prohibited from remaining in that area (but they can pass through briefly while on a lead to elsewhere) from 1st November to 30th April; however, they are permitted to remain there on-lead at all other times.

  • On the Ninety Mile Beach, within 200 metres of the beach access track opposite the footbridge. Dogs are prohibited from remaining in that area (but they can pass through briefly while on a lead to elsewhere) from 1st November to 30th April; however, they are permitted to remain there on-lead at all other times.

  • Eastern Beach is between the car park at the western end and 200 metres east of the car park at the eastern end. Dogs are prohibited from remaining in that area (but they can pass through briefly while on a lead to elsewhere) from 1st November to 30th April; however, they are permitted to remain there on-lead at all other times.

Pooch-Friendly Activities

Luckily, the beaches aren't the only attraction here. There are heaps of other dog-friendly things to do in Lakes Entrance you should definitely check out.

  • Stroll along the foreshore: There's plenty of shared-use pathways around Lakes Entrance, with the path along the foreshore, parallel to the Esplanade, one of the most popular spots for taking a walk with your pup at any time of day.

  • Walk along the Entrance Walk: This is another popular walk in Lakes Entrance. Cross over the Cunninghame Arm Footbridge and then turn to the right before the surf club. (Dogs need to remain on leash on this walk. Dogs are not allowed to stay on the surf club beach 200m on either side of the main access track between November and April, although they can pass through on leash).

  • Go for a run at Brackenbush Unleashed: This fenced dog park on private property is a funded community facility. There are three big off-leash areas, with an area for quieter dogs as well as one for nature walks. It's also next to a state forest, where you can exercise your dog on a leash.

  • Look up for koalas at Raymond Island: One of the best dog-friendly attractions around the area is the Koala Trail on Raymond Island. The ferry leaves every 20 minutes, and it's free for people and leashed pooches.

  • Grab a bite to eat: Funkey Monkey Cafe, The Servo Bar & Eatery, Lakes Sports & Community Club, or the Boasted Food & Wine are all pet-friendly. The latter has an outdoor eating area at the front where dogs are welcome. There's even dog beer available so your pup can join in!
